Monthly TLC Low-cost Complementary Therapies Clinic
Tara Centre, Lancaster
Thursdays 10am-12pm
We launched the TLC Clinic in 2017 to offer access to complementary therapies to people facing financial or other barriers. The clinic is sponsored and hosted by the Tara Centre and staffed by a team of professional volunteer therapists who are all fully insured and in private practice.
Complementary therapies on offer are:
Bowen Therapy (Laura) – Fully clothed lying down on a couch under a blanket, the practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points to perform a set of rolling type moves that activate nerve bundles below the muscle and soft tissue of the body. The Bowen experience is subtle, healing and relaxing. By stimulating meridian points in a specific order and with careful pauses in between, the Bowen Technique promotes the body to reset, repair and balance itself. It is one of the fastest and most effective modalities for treating pain, chronic illness and improving overall health.
Reiki (Becky) – Fully clothed lying down on a couch under a blanket, the practitioner places their hands off the body from the head working downwards towards the feet, offering energy healing. You’ll feel a deep sense of relaxation which can help with pain and the symptoms of stress.
Access Bars (Becky) – Fully clothed lying down on a couch under a blanket, the practitioner offers gentle touch on the head, tracing 32 points to clear and release stored energy. It’s a relaxing treatment which people often describe as having a reboot.
Acupuncture (Tamara) – If you’re in pain or looking for support with stress and anxiety these 30-minute sessions might be of support to you. Tamara will be offering a set protocol using needles on the ears, hands and feet only, known to help with relaxation, and to alleviate pain, stress and tension.
