Wellbeing Service for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Volunteer Helpers

Tuesdays 1-3pm

The service offers a range of complementary therapies to aid relaxation, reduce stress and enhance a sense of wellbeing. We offer back massage, foot massage, Indian Head massage and reflexology on a drop-in basis free of charge. All our therapists are fully insured, professional therapists offering their time as volunteers. We have to fundraise for rent to cover the service.

Donations to support this work are gratefully received.

Therapists: Nicola Garrett, Dave McFarlane, Barbara Wilson, Mayela Redondo, Di Hinson, Jean Nelson and Jude Pereles.

Contact: taracentrelancaster@gmail.com if you’d like any more information. We’d love to hear from you.

Community TimeXchange: People helping people across North Lancs

Timebanking is a way of linking local people who can share their time and skills. Timebanks build a social network of people who give and receive support from each other, enabling people from different backgrounds, who may otherwise not meet, to come together and form connections and friendships. It is a highly effective community development tool, empowering individuals and groups to bring change, make choices and take control of their own lives and neighbourhoods.

Every one’s time is valued equally, so one hour of time given earns one time credit and an exchange takes place without the need for money.

Timebanking builds on people’s strengths and recognises that every one in a community has something to offer, including those often defined as disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Timebanking helps tackle isolation and loneliness, and provides new opportunities for both individuals, organisations and communities.

Time Team volunteers:  Clare Long Summers (Volunteer Broker), Janey Todd, Mandy Reeves, Sam Brand, Pam Beswick, Stephen Riley, Bettina Roehricht and Karen Spencer.

Contact: Come and have a cup of tea with us on Tuesdays between 3.30-5.30pm if you’d like to find out more about the Timebank. Or you can email Clare at taracentrelancaster@gmail.com  or visit our website: www.communitytimexchange.org.uk.
