Kay Johnson is one of the Directors of the Tara Project Community Interest Company. She is a nutritionist and sustainable food activist, Coordinator for Sustainable Foods Lancashire and runs LARDER (Lancashire and Region Dietary Education Resource).

Kay has always been passionate about helping people who are struggling through no fault of their own, people who come up against all sorts of barriers and have never been given an opportunity, people who would normally not want to engage with services for whatever reason. That’s what’s defined her work throughout her life and is her motivation for working with the Tara Centre.

Kay has had over 20 years’ experience as a health professional and nutritionist working for the NHS and local authorities to improve nutrition and access to good food in communities and areas that traditionally haven’t had this. Kay also recognise that emotions play a huge role in determining our relationship to food and how we eat and this is an area of work that she believes is very often neglected by agencies and organisations working around weight management.
